Recipe: Buttermilk Waffles I

You can add about 1 C chopped pecans for Pecan Waffles.



BUTTERMILK WAFFLES I



Makes 1 dozen thick waffles



4 C flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 Tbsp warm water

3 C buttermilk

2 Tbsp lard, melted and cooled (can use butter)

2 eggs, beaten well



Sift together flour and salt. Stir baking soda into warm water and set aside. Stir flour into buttermilk. Stir in melted and cooled lard, then beaten eggs, mixing well. Add soda and water. Cook on well-greased waffle iron.
