This Just In!

New Hope Seed Company is one of my favorite sources for open pollinated, heirloom seeds. They are located just north of Memphis, so many of the varieties they have are old Southern favorites. They sent out an email with a 10% discount code valid through October 31.

Email and code below the fold. If you're looking for a place to get seed for next year, check out New Hope. Excellent customer service!

Hello Friends!

Hope everyone had a great summer and a big harvest.

Once again mother nature gave us a very interesting growing season with many cloudy days and wetter than normal conditions through out the summer which helped some crops and hurt others but over all a fairly good growing season. The wet weather kept us from getting our crops planted until rather late into June and July this year which means there will be few varieties that we will be out of this coming year or have in limited supply.

It's Fall now and as the weather begins to turn cooler and the days getting shorter I am in the typical mad rush to get the remaining crops harvested, dried and ready for the upcoming planting season. At present time I am harvesting pole beans, cowpeas, field corn, tobacco seed and washing up the last of the watermelon seed crop.

It looks like we will have a good crop this year with our field corns and already harvested a good crop of our Golden Giant sweet corn which is now drying and should be available by the first of November. Our Golden Giant sweet corn usually sells out fairly fast every spring so I am listing it as on 'backorder' now so our customers can go ahead and purchase/reserve what they want early and then we will ship it out as soon as it is ready.

Our Black Cherry, Ferris Wheel, Big Rainbow and Kosovo tomatoes are now back in stock. After a long several year absence we now have 3 of our customer's favorite tomatoes back in stock, Russian Red a wonderful medium red tomato from New Zealand, Dixie Golden Giant a large yellow heirloom tomato and Golden Dwarf Champion a 'tree type' tomato have medium size yellow fruit with a fruity taste along with a bit of a twang.

I have added one new tomato, Galina's Yellow, I have grown and enjoyed this tomato for many years, it is one of my favorites for snacking on while working. Galina's Yellow is a potato leaf yellow cherry tomato originally from Siberia.

We are now taking orders for Sweet Potato and Heirloom Tobacco Plants for the 2014 growing season.

We now accept PayPal as a payment option as we know many of our customers do have PayPal accounts and would like to be able to purchase from us using their accounts.

We are offering our customers 10% off their next order, please see below for details.

Please check our website often as I will be adding items back in stock as I get crops cleaned and germination tested.

Happy gardening!
