I could be wrong.
But I've always understood "happiness" as it appears in the Declaration to be poorly translated Greek for "flourishing"-- as in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of a Good Life where one achieves one's potential and stuff.
And I assumed the Framers, especially Jefferson, understood 'happiness' this way.
I'm going to look into this.
