Game Day! We Did It!!

Company arrived shortly after 8am and the male folk set off for the game.

Leaving us female folk to enjoy our morning coffee and load up the truck.
Thanks to Mr. Bruno  & Lique, and a note from Walter to the Parking Patrol folks, set up went well.
Joe (L) and Albert (R) volunteered
to carve nature at its joins the meat.
Meanwhile...

Score. (See the fireworks?)
This is OUR STATE. Take that That School Up North.
Let's eat!
Mike & Lique, welcome to Mississippi!
We beat Auburn! Go Dawgs.

"How to Explore the Outdoors with Kids"

Alternate title: "Are You Kidding Me?"

How to explore the outdoors with kids, you idiots, you.

Mr. Big Food and I have found a new (to us) toy: Skype. It is not uncommon for us to chat during the day-- and that's fun-- but now we can see each other chatting! As I begin writing this, I'm waiting for Mr. Big Food to Skype me, and poking around the World Wide Web. I came across "How to Explore the Outdoors with Kids" by Jenn Savedge at The Weather Channel (TWC). Oh. Brother.

It begins:
Summer is finally here! And now that warmer days are in season, you may be getting the itch to ditch the winter gear and bask in the sunshine. This is such an awesome time of year to get out and explore nature — especially with kids. But as with anything parenting-related, it will go so much better if you're prepared.

Here's what you need to know to have a successful outdoor exploration with your kids.
Start small
If your kids are new to outdoor exploration, ...
HUH? What does this mean? If your kids are new to outdoor exploration you are an idiot.
don't try to force a long hike. Start with a small day hike or even just splashing around at a nearby pond. Give them a chance to get used to the joys of being outdoors before you take them to your favorite secluded (and faraway) location.

Yummy Baked Potato Skins

Something fun! On occasion-- say, when there's a game or movie we want to watch-- Mr. Big Food will whip up some "bar food" instead of an honest-to-goodness supper. Why not? 'Tis the season.

YUMMY BAKED POTATO SKINS

Makes 8

4 large baking potatoes, baked

3 Tbsp vegetable oil

1 Tbsp shredded Parmesan cheese

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp paprika

1/8 tsp pepper

8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbed

2 C (8 oz) shredded yellow cheese

½ C sour cream

4 green onions, sliced

Cut baked potatoes in half lengthwise and scoop out pulp (save for another use), leaving ¼ inch shells. Place shells on a greased baking sheet. Combine oil, Parmesan cheese, salt, garlic powder, paprika and pepper and brush all over potato skins. Bake at 475° for about 8 minutes. Turn shells over and bake for another 8 minutes or so. Turn right side up. Sprinkle bacon and cheddar evenly inside of skins, and bake 2 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Top baked skins with sour cream and green onions.
