Recipe: Texas White Sheet Cake


This is a cake Mr. Big Food makes fairly frequently because it's good!

TEXAS WHITE SHEET CAKE

Makes 1 15x9 inch cake

CAKE

1 C butter
1 C water
2 C flour
2 C sugar
2 eggs, beaten
½ C sour cream
1 tsp almond extract
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

Preheat oven to 375o. In a large saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil. Remove from heat, stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, almond extract, salt, and baking soda until smooth. Pour into a greased 15x10 inch baking pan and bake 20-22 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool for 20 minutes.

FROSTING

1 stick butter
¼ C milk
4 ½ C powdered sugar (about 1 lb)
½ tsp almond extract
1 C chopped pecans
Combine butter and milk in saucepan, bring to a boil, remove from heat, add powdered sugar and extract, and mix well. Stir in chopped pecans. Pour and spread over warm cake.
