And Speaking of Benjamin Franklin

oldest signer of The Declaration of Independence, who said,

Those who would give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety

it was in June of 1752 that Franklin flew a kite (1).

1741-1775. Joseph Warren, physician and Patriot born. Warren gave up his medical practice after the Stamp Act was passed in order to become more politically active. In 1774 he helped write the Suffolk Resolves  denounced Parliament's "coercive measures" after the Boston Tea Party and called Massachusetts to arms. Paul Revere carried the Suffolk Resolves to the Continental Congress. Warren was killed on June 17, 1775 at the Battle of Bunker Hill (3).  

1776. Continental Congress appointed a committee to draft The Declaration of Independence (1)
